It is with the greatest regret that the club has to announce the passing of a long term playing member Micky Anderson at the age of 83 after a long illness.
Micky learnt his rugby at Weston grammar school and after leaving, like many of his contemporaries, joined Weston RFC and played in their colts and senior sides until he joined the Hornets in the mid sixties.
An important member of the 1st XV in the sixties and early seventies he was part of the clubs very successful halfback partnership with former club legend Mel Mitchell. After several years with the Hornets he rejoined Weston RFC and played many games for their 1st XV. After retiring from the game he coached their colts side for many years.
Many people of a certain age will remember Micky when he worked at Clark’s shoe factory for thirty years until his retirement.
Funeral to be held 1st August at 12.30 at Weston crematorium.
Afterwards at the Ebdon Arms.
A web page has been setup in his honour for people to share memories and pictures if they choose. Please follow the link below to do so.
