Hornets RFC

15 - 12

(HT 10-5)

Castle Cary RFC

Hornets 3rds put in their performance of the season as they beat top of the table Castle Cary by 15 points to 12 in another tense game at the Nest.

The pack put in a heavy shift dealing with the rather over exhuberant Castle Cary who had at best some questionable tackle technique and seemed to rely on the bully boy tactics from the 80's. However with experienced heads themselves the pack with the likes of Matt Dodd and Ryan Hedges that was dealt with admirably leading from the front making some mischief themselves.

For the 2nd week running young scrum half Bryn Solomon almost had his head removed from his shoulders in one such incident that saw the visitors marched back a further 10 yards much to the amusement of the antogonistic aforementioned Ryan Hedges.

Charlie Deakin ran the show at 10 and with the seriously impressive Geroge Walker at 13 and Matt Lightfoot living up to his name there was some dazzling footwork on show for the well earned victory.

It was also nice to see Dave Martin sporting a more modest slightly larger short for his appearance.

Under the guidance of two experienced vetrans on the coaching team in Jamie Shore and Ian Long the future looks very bright for the 3XV.
