Weston-super-Mare RFC
Hornets RFC

Hornets took the short trip to the home of rugby at Weston super Mare and reminded them that there are 2 Clubs in the town and Hornets are doing quite well at all levels. Hornets 2nds completely dominated the game in every aspect with a team made up of Club Legends, Veteran players as well as promising younger players.

With very difficult conditions underfoot and a strong wind on their backs Hornets played expansive intelligent rugby and scored 3 tries and a penalty to go in at halftime 24 points to nil up but with a bit more composure and it could have been higher.

With the wind on their backs, Weston started to play some better rugby but were being knocked back by outstanding solid defence and when Hornets got a sniff of the line they were enjoying their day. A further 3 tries to nothing from Weston and this 2nd team had scored another 19 points. Final Score Weston 2nds nil Hornets 2nds 43.

Special mention goes to man of the match Dave Bird who rolled back the years in this game and played with a huge smile on his face throughout as he has very close ties with both Clubs!

In the 2 games against Weston this season Hornets have scored 111 points to nil. This again is showing the strength in depth at Hornets is evident and at least for a couple of hours went top of Counties 2 Tribute Somerset before Old Reds played their game!
