Hornets Colts Shine in Dominant Victory

Hornets Colts produced their best performance of the season with a commanding victory over local rivals Weston-super-Mare at The Nest.
Played in glorious sunshine in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd, the match began at a lively pace.

Hornets quickly imposed their authority, with No. 8 Morgan Hughes powering over from close range inside the opening 10 minutes. Full-back Aaron Thompson then added two superb tries in an outstanding individual performance. Captain Kayden Lambard crossed for Hornets’ fourth try before stand out centre Albert Stoyanov extended the home side’s lead.

Sid Wiltshire made things worse for the Seasiders when the strong carrying hooker scored Hornets sixth try. Hornets continued their dominance and scrum-half George Price scored a memorable long-range try after a superb break, before flanker Stav Petrou produced the try of the match. Running from deep inside his own half, he beat several defenders before diving under the posts much to the delight of the crowd.

Winger Archie Allen, who once again enjoyed a strong game, added another try in the corner. Joel Massey then rounded off the scoring with Hornets’ 10th try of the afternoon. By which time the called early with some 20 minutes remaining.

Thompson’s five successful conversions, alongside his two tries, gave him an impressive personal tally of 20 points.

The forwards dominated both the set piece and the breakdown, while the backs caused havoc throughout the afternoon. The back three of Archie Allen, Anthony Deacon and Aaron Thompson were particularly impressive.

However, it was loosehead prop Jack Brown who claimed the Man of the Match award for an excellent all-round display.

Hornets now look forward to a tough National Cup test against Wellington Colts next week.

Thank you to everyone who came along to support the team—it was fantastic to see the young Hornets demonstrating that the future is bright at The Nest.
