Lymm v Hornets 31.10.26
Hornets took their furthest journey to Cheshire and the home of Lymm RFC and struggled in the first half but eventually come back with a try bonus point.
On the occasion of his 50th Cap wing Owen Griffiths led the team out in brilliant warm sunshine.
Lymm started with good intent and showed an attacking fast game was on order and in a flash Hornets found themselves down by 2 tries after only 8 minutes.12-0.
Hornets managed to get some ball and worked to a position they could attack and Sonny Davis was able to get Hornets on the scoresheet and Charlie Carter converted.12-7.
After 18 minutes the pressure from Lymm was too much and a maul brought down deliberately adjudged by the ref and a penalty try and Tommy Bailey was in the bin.19-7.
In the 10 minutes that Hornets were down a man Lymm exploited the opportunity and bagged 2 more tries before right on halftime Ash Lockwood was over for a score to give some hope to Hornets and Carter converted. 33-14.
The second half continued at pace and Lymm got another and looked out of sight but Hornets hit back again through Ayden Chenoweth.40-19.
Lymm were proving too strong and eventually got another and Hornets now were looking to at least get another try to get a point and when Josh Sheppard received the ball on halfway he worked to and over the line for the 4th try and at least a point won.
9 minutes to go and Henry Webb was adjudged to of infringed in the red zone and he was sent to the bin.
However, the quick tap 5 metres out from the hosts, and the ball spun wide was intercepted by Sheppard and he raced the length of the pitch to get another. The game played out and eventually the ref blew. Full Time Lymm 47 Hornets 31.
A tough day at the office and more valuable experience gained by some new boys and Hornets now look forward to the visit of Bournville from the Midlands on Saturday 3pm at the Nest.
