Devonport Services RFC

34 - 41

(HT 10-24)

Hornets RFC

Devonport Services v Hornets 5.4.25.

Hornets travelled to Plymouth along with plenty of travelling supporters in their latest National 2 West match and in a high scoring game came away with another 5 league  points.
In brilliant warm spring sunshine Hornets started brightly and it was only a matter of time until they unlocked the host’s defence through a try by Josh Sheppard but not before Devonport had opened the scoring.
Not to be outdone the other Hornets winger was on the score sheet through Owen Griffiths and Hornets had a lead which was never to be given up .
Devonport who were fighting for survival in the league needed the win but Hornets had their own agenda and Corey Baker and Kieran Ward scored tries and the hosts got another to go into the break 10-24.
The second half continued in the same form as the play was quite loose and Devonport were able to get a bonus point try before Hornets through Charlie Carter and then both Baker and Sheppard got their brace each and the stop start game ebbed to a finish. Devonport picked up 2 deserved points but Hornets took home the full 5. Final score Devonport 34 Hornets 41.
In another high scoring entertaining game with a touch of end of term about Hornets their ability to score almost at will to cancel out any Devonport resurgence.
Hornets sit in 6th spot in the league as with just 2 games left in the monumental season.
Next up this Saturday Macclesfield take the long trip to the Nest and Hornets last Home league game this season kick off 3pm come and appreciate the efforts by this current team in their last home outing.
