Hornets RFC
Oldfield Old Boys RFC

Hornets Chargers U16 boys welcomed Oldfield Boys to the Nest on Halloween weekend and returned to winning ways. After a fast and furious start from both teams Hornets had a lineout in Oldfield’s 22 which got turned over but then good pressure from the hosts and turnover ball saw centre George Spinks crash over to score which full back Charlie Roberts converted. Oldfield came back with good pressure and found their way into the hosts 22 but they couldn’t continue the pressure and after some good forward play from Hornets and earning a penalty Roberts kicked to touch resulting in a lineout in the visitors 22. Oldfield turned over the ball but then knocked on giving Hornets a scrum 15m out from the try line. A steady scrum allowed number 8 Leo Deuvall to pick up and go and score.

Prop Noah Turner came on for his first game since being injured 6 weeks ago and was straight into the fray and after some great forward play Turner went over to score which Roberts converted. Half time was 19-0 to the hosts.

The second half saw Hornets push into the visitors 22 take a quick tap penalty and with slick passing through the backs full back Ethan James ran in to score again Roberts converted. Play then went back and forth until Oldfield found their pace and scored which was converted.

The Chargers responded well and again worked their way into the visitors 22 and with the forwards working hard lock Ollie Spinks crashed over to score. The last try came from full back James after a chip and chase and run in from half way. Roberts again converted. Final score 38 – 7 to Hornets. A really good team game.
